by Dave Lewis
the storm drain
overflowing
made milky
by the clay grey
rainwater
two starlings
pecking bread
I left out
in the snow
last night
you in your bright
red cardigan
your eyes all
dove-grey blue
gawk out the window
at the winter
scene sparkling
with cold
as a siren wails
through the valley
